OK, I'll take a chance here and say all of my computers are in the
basement. I also have a large dehumidifier and keep the humidity
around
39%. I've always kept them there and my 386sx, Pentium 90, Pentium
mmx,
dual core are all still working.
I get the point, if I didn't use a dehumidifier - I might not have
them
anymore.

Hell, the average Relative Humidity here (at about 7000' elevation and
on the lee (dry) side of the Rockies) runs less than 50%. In fact
right now, with my window open to the outside, the RH in this room is
21%. We literally get static shocks when opening doors and such all
year long, not just in the winter like when I lived back east. In
these parts, we need humidifiers more than dehumidifiers - and the use
of evaporative coolers is VERY popular. If I could keep the RH in my
UP to 39% I'd be thrilled!
I always wanted to live somewhere where the humidity was low, where I'm
at it can be 75-80% RH outside. So if I don't use the dehumidifier, the
basement ends up right around 65 but can go alot higher.
I lived in Missouri and after taking a shower, I'd put my uniform on
and as soon as I walked out of the house it would be soaked ~ It was
much worse there. When I was in San Antonio, I'd get up at 5AM to run
PT and it would be hot, but I wouldn't sweat.
Strange differences!
Have a great day wherever you are Weatherman!
